Why is camporee so important to us?
Camporee is so important for kids to build resilience, be creative, learn new skills, stay active, and grow more connected to nature and God. During camporee, Pathfinders get involved in competitions like fire building and raft building, which give them a chance to work as a team while also getting to know each other on a closer level, as well as building resilience and confidence in themselves. Camporee encourages our children to be creative and learn new skills by doing honors, and even designing and setting up our camp entrance. Being in Tranquility Valley, it also provides them with a great opportunity to learn more about and appreciate the trees, water, and wildlife that God has given us. While camporee is a wonderful experience for bonding and memories, it does so within a spiritually rich environment. Kids are encouraged to seek Christ and build a deeper relationship with Him that can withstand any circumstance life may throw at them. They also get to see that they are not alone! Camporee brings together Pathfinders from all across our state, showing them that they have a community and being a Pathfinder makes them part of a big family that is always there to support them. Camporee is a special time the Pathfinders will never forget, and the relationships with others and with God they build are those that last a lifetime, always present to sustain them.
